Just had a M3 E93 with the check engine light on,,,,found faulty t-stat faults,,,replaced the t-stat which you have to remove or lift up the whole intake system that sits on top of the whole engine area,,,the t-stat is inside the whole big metal housing which bolts down on top of the water pump ,,,,it’s a really tight fit  getting the t-stat out.
