how often do you see bad turbos on the n63? also usually at what milage? I just had my valve seals replaced + carbon blasted the intakes under warranty but I don’t know if they checked the turbos

    • We have only seen a couple turbos go bad,,,I’ve seen 2 turbos where the turbine fins get damaged,,,,and I’ve seen a couple that were burning some oil.,,,that’s about it.

I know this is probably the wrong category to post this comment but I didn’t see any other subject closer related to my predicament so here goes. Don’t know if this is serious or not or common or not but here goes. When I open the hood bonnet I noticed the charged air pipe right passenger side wet. I touched and saw oil on my finger! Why would this be wet with oil and where is it coming from? Can u share some insight? I have not noticed oil consumption more than usual so I’m curious as to why this is wet?

Whats the current philosophy on valve stem seals. I’m starting to smoke a bit. Also I have a leak, told it’s upper oil pan, whats the repair look like on both these items.

    • The valve stem seals the engine and trans have to be removed to perform that job,,,,the upper oil pan gasket you have to lower the subframe,,,both jobs are not cheap or easy to perform

Got another question. Shortly after my previous question to you I replaced all valve stem seals, turbo oil lines vacuum lines, turbo oil cover the whole works. Been running good for about 10k miles. (No known oil consumption).

I’m now getting a code of 0310b Boost Pressure Control 2 happens under light medium load then seems to go away minute or two later. Is it worth trying to change the control solenoid down by the inter cooler or is this pretty much a wastegate issue?

Thanks for doing your blog it’s lifesaver for DIYers.
